The Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) invites applications for the IKZ International Fellowship Award 2026 focused on AlGaN-based power electronics and UV photonics. IKZ is a leading research institute dedicated to crystalline materials science, covering research from fundamental studies to pre-industrial development in collaboration with international academic and industrial partners.
The fellowship aims to attract a leading expert in AlGaN heteroepitaxy and device-oriented materials development. The selected fellow will collaborate with IKZ scientists and contribute to advancing semiconductor technologies based on AlGaN and AlN materials.
Research Focus
- AlGaN heteroepitaxy and epitaxial growth mechanisms.
- Development of materials and heterostructures for deep-UV optoelectronic devices.
- Advancement of AlN-based high-power and high-frequency electronic devices.
- Application-oriented development of semiconductor devices using AlGaN on native AlN substrates.
Key Requirements
- Internationally recognized scientific achievements in AlGaN heteroepitaxy.
- Expertise in epitaxial growth techniques such as MOVPE or MBE.
- Strong track record in scientific publications and research funding.
- Experience in materials development for optoelectronic or high-power electronic devices.
- Demonstrated experience in technology transfer through collaborations with industry or startups is highly desirable.
Fellowship Details
- Fellowship award of €10,000.
- Flexible guest scientist stay of up to three months at IKZ between 2027 and 2029.
- Opportunity to initiate collaborative research and develop third-party funded research programs.
