Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in experimental superconducting quantum computing within the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). The position focuses on developing the next generation of superconducting quantum processors using cutting-edge nanofabrication and experimental quantum technology techniques.
The successful candidate will work in the Quantum Technology Laboratory (QTL), contributing to the advancement of quantum computing hardware and experimental techniques. The research environment combines expertise in quantum computing, sensing, transduction, and quantum thermodynamics, supported by world-class nanofabrication facilities.
Research Responsibilities
- Develop and characterize superconducting quantum processors.
- Simulate and design quantum processor architectures.
- Develop and optimize nanofabrication processes for large-scale quantum devices.
- Implement optimal control techniques for high-fidelity qubit operations.
- Design automatic calibration and fast tune-up methods for quantum processors.
- Implement and benchmark quantum algorithms.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers in quantum technology.
- Contribute to supervision of Master’s and PhD students.
- Possibility to participate in teaching activities at undergraduate or Master’s level.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary research teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
- Expertise in superconducting circuits, experimental quantum computing, microwave quantum optics, or related experimental physics fields.
Employment Conditions
- Full-time temporary postdoctoral position for 2 years with possibility of a 1-year extension.
- The position requires physical presence during employment.
- A valid residence permit must be presented before the start date if applicable.
