Operating at commercial scale, the company collaborates with global partners to enable higher-performance battery technologies while reducing critical material dependencies. The Battery Engineer will play an essential role in evaluating and optimizing battery materials and processes in the CarbonX laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers and technicians to evaluate and improve battery materials and processes.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Conduct quality control, ensuring precision and accuracy of experimental results.
  • Record detailed observations and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot problems and optimize production workflows.
  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Functional Focus Areas

Option 1 – Slurry / Electrode Focus

  • Slurry mixing and rheology analysis.
  • Measurement of fineness and solid content.
  • Electrode coating and calendaring.
  • Electrode quality control and characterization.

Option 2 – Cell Assembly Focus

  • Coin cell and SLP cell assembly.
  • Battery testing and data processing.
  • Post-mortem analysis of battery cells.

Candidate Profile

  • MBO, HBO, or Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a battery laboratory environment.
  • Expertise in one or more areas such as slurry preparation, coating, calendaring, or SLP assembly.
  • Experience performing laboratory tests and analytical procedures.
  • Strong understanding of quality control methodologies.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Interest in sustainable energy and innovative battery technologies.
