The Rector of the Jagiellonian University announces a competition for the position of Assistant Professor (F/M) in the group of research workers as part of the project “Nanoscale effect, three-dimensional arrangement of proteins and its influence on biological and therapeutic activity.”

The selected candidate will join an international research project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN). The project focuses on developing programmable protein nanoparticles capable of interacting with tissues and viruses.

The successful candidate will contribute to the production of protein cages and recombinant proteins and characterize their interactions with selected receptors and ligands while collaborating with research partners in the United Kingdom and Slovenia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production and purification of recombinant proteins in bacterial systems.
  • Design and production of protein cages and related biomolecular structures.
  • Characterization of interactions between proteins, receptors, and ligands.
  • Maintaining laboratory documentation and project records.
  • Collaborating with international research partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Documented scientific achievements and active participation in scientific research.
  • At least two years of laboratory experience confirmed by a laboratory notebook or reference letter.
  • Published experience in recombinant protein production and purification in bacterial systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability in maintaining research documentation.
  • Teamwork abilities supported by references from previous supervisors.
  • Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in structural biology.
  • Experience with cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM).

Project Conditions

  • The project is funded by the National Science Centre (NCN).
  • Applicants must meet NCN eligibility conditions regarding doctoral degree timing and employment rules.
  • The candidate must not hold other employment or receive additional NCN project remuneration during the employment period.

Research Environment

The research will be conducted at the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, in collaboration with international partners from the United Kingdom and Slovenia.
