Operating at commercial scale, the company collaborates with global partners to enable higher-performance battery technologies while reducing critical material dependencies. The Battery Engineer will play an essential role in evaluating and optimizing battery materials and processes in the CarbonX laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and technicians to evaluate and improve battery materials and processes.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Conduct quality control, ensuring precision and accuracy of experimental results.
- Record detailed observations and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
- Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot problems and optimize production workflows.
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Functional Focus Areas
Option 1 – Slurry / Electrode Focus
- Slurry mixing and rheology analysis.
- Measurement of fineness and solid content.
- Electrode coating and calendaring.
- Electrode quality control and characterization.
Option 2 – Cell Assembly Focus
- Coin cell and SLP cell assembly.
- Battery testing and data processing.
- Post-mortem analysis of battery cells.
Candidate Profile
- MBO, HBO, or Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a battery laboratory environment.
- Expertise in one or more areas such as slurry preparation, coating, calendaring, or SLP assembly.
- Experience performing laboratory tests and analytical procedures.
- Strong understanding of quality control methodologies.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Interest in sustainable energy and innovative battery technologies.
