Linköping University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the field of electrochemical energy storage within the Organic Energy Materials (OEM) Group led by Professor Reverant Crispin. The position is based at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) at Campus Norrköping, Sweden.
The research focuses on the design and development of sustainable organic and bio-based materials for energy transport, conversion, and storage. The successful candidate will conduct research on biomass-derived materials for sodium- and zinc-based battery systems, contributing to environmentally friendly energy-storage technologies.
Research Responsibilities
- Develop and synthesize bio-based electrode materials derived from biomass sources such as lignin and cellulose.
- Design and fabricate electrodes for sodium-ion and zinc-based batteries.
- Perform structural, chemical, and electrochemical characterization of energy storage materials.
- Assemble and test electrochemical cells including coin-cell fabrication and battery performance evaluation.
- Analyze experimental data and develop methods for improving energy storage device performance.
- Publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences.
- Participate in research meetings and contribute to new project proposals and funding applications.
- Teaching duties may be included up to 20% of working hours.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or a closely related field.
- Research experience in electrochemical energy storage, battery materials, or related areas.
- Strong ability to conduct independent research and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with biomass-derived or carbon-based materials.
- Knowledge of sodium-ion or zinc-based battery systems.
- Experience with electrochemical characterization techniques.
Research Environment
The Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) is an internationally recognized research environment with more than 150 researchers working across interdisciplinary fields including materials science, electronics, chemistry, and photonics. The laboratory provides access to advanced infrastructure such as cleanrooms, chemistry labs, photonics facilities, and battery testing equipment.
Employment Conditions
- Full-time postdoctoral position.
- Fixed-term contract for 2 years.
- Location: Campus Norrköping, Linköping University, Sweden.
- Salary determined individually according to university regulations.
- Starting date by agreement.
