The project focuses on developing a closed-loop transdermal drug delivery platform for Parkinson\u2019s disease by integrating real-time L-DOPA biosensing with light-controlled release using microneedles and smart hydrogels.<\/p>\n<p>This interdisciplinary research position combines biomedical engineering, materials science, and biosensing technologies to enable precise, personalized therapies through continuous monitoring and adaptive drug delivery. The project offers hands-on training in advanced biosensing, smart materials, and transdermal delivery technologies with strong potential for high-impact publications and patents.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Design and fabricate microneedle-based transdermal drug delivery systems.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and characterize electrochemical sensors for L-DOPA detection.<\/li>\n<li>Engineer light-responsive hydrogels for controlled drug release.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate sensing, delivery, and wireless control into a closed-loop therapeutic system.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct in vitro and ex vivo experimental validation.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze experimental data and optimize system performance.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate results through scientific publications, presentations, and reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Required Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree (120 ECTS) in biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related discipline.<\/li>\n<li>Background in biosensors, electrochemical techniques, or drug delivery systems.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in smart hydrogels and microneedle technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with microfabrication, flexible electronics, or wireless control systems is advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently in interdisciplinary teams.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral scientific communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Employment Conditions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time PhD scholarship with a duration of <strong>3 years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Expected start date: <strong>1 September 2026<\/strong> or as soon as possible thereafter.<\/li>\n<li>Salary and appointment conditions follow the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Application Instructions<\/h3>\n<p>Applications must be submitted online as a single PDF including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Motivational letter (cover letter)<\/li>\n<li>Curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<li>BSc\/MSc transcripts and diplomas including grading scale description<\/li>\n<li>Links to relevant resources such as code, hardware designs, or videos<\/li>\n<li>A short 2-minute video explaining why you are a suitable candidate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
