The project is part of an ERC-funded initiative focused on developing next-generation semiconductor terahertz electronics for far-infrared (FIR) space instruments.<\/p>\n<p>The research aims to advance semiconductor-based receiver technology in the <strong>2\u20135 THz frequency range<\/strong>, enabling highly sensitive and energy-efficient far-infrared heterodyne receivers. These technologies are expected to support future atmospheric science and space observation missions requiring advanced FIR\/THz instrumentation.<\/p>\n<h3>Research Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop semiconductor-based antenna-integrated receivers for far-infrared and terahertz applications.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct experimental characterization of terahertz electronic devices and receiver systems.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams working on nanoscience, photonics, and quantum technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of high-sensitivity, low-power THz receiver architectures.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise Master\u2019s and\/or PhD students to a certain extent.<\/li>\n<li>Possibility to participate in teaching at undergraduate or Master\u2019s level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Required Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>PhD or equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in terahertz technology and experimental characterization techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated research potential and interest in teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preferred Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in antenna theory and antenna design.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with semiconductor device technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Employment Conditions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time temporary postdoctoral position for <strong>2 years<\/strong> with the possibility of a <strong>1-year extension<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The position requires physical presence throughout the employment period.<\/li>\n<li>A valid residence permit must be presented before the start date if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Research Environment<\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience provides a world-class research environment focused on quantum technology, nanoscience, photonics, and advanced electronic systems.
