The positions are part of the <strong>GroenvermogenNL HyFINE initiative<\/strong>, a national consortium aimed at transforming chemical manufacturing towards climate-neutral and circular production systems.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to design sustainable polymers for consumer and industrial applications by replacing fossil-based feedstocks with renewable resources and enabling controlled degradation pathways.<\/p>\n<h3>Research Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and synthesize degradable polymers using green chemistry approaches.<\/li>\n<li>Modify polymer structures using hydrogen, electrons, and photon-driven chemical transformations.<\/li>\n<li>Study structure\u2013degradation relationships between polymer molecular structures and biodegradability.<\/li>\n<li>Optimize light sources for controlled polymer degradation.<\/li>\n<li>Develop in-situ optical sensing platforms using techniques such as UV\u2013Vis and Raman spectroscopy to monitor degradation processes.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with industrial partners including BASF and SULIS Polymers.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare research publications and present findings in scientific conferences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Required Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Chemistry or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Strong experimental background in polymer synthesis and organic chemistry.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge or interest in optics and spectroscopic sensing techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Strong motivation for research and innovation in sustainable materials.<\/li>\n<li>Fluent in English and able to work in interdisciplinary research teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Research Environment<\/h3>\n<p>The project will be conducted at the University of Twente within the Sustainable Polymer Chemistry and Hybrid Materials for Opto-electronics groups.
