This EngD project focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling calcium-based thermochemical materials (TCMs) using recycled Circular Calcium Carbonate (CCC) for efficient, reversible thermal energy storage.<\/p>\n<p>The research aims to overcome practical challenges such as particle agglomeration, poor thermal conductivity, and cyclic instability through innovative synthesis, chemical optimization, and advanced material design.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and optimize calcium-based thermochemical materials for thermal energy storage.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate reaction kinetics and thermodynamic behavior of reversible calcium carbonate systems.<\/li>\n<li>Improve physical and chemical properties using advanced synthesis and characterization methods.<\/li>\n<li>Study thermal conductivity, structural integrity, and cyclic stability during heat storage and release.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with industrial partners, system engineers, and materials researchers to support scale-up and reactor integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Required Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>MSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related discipline.<\/li>\n<li>Strong background in physical chemistry, chemical synthesis, and materials characterization.<\/li>\n<li>Experience analyzing reaction kinetics, thermodynamic behavior, and thermal material properties.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of advanced energy materials, particularly Thermochemical Materials (TCMs), is highly desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent English proficiency (IELTS \u22656.5, TOEFL iBT \u226590, or Cambridge CAE\/CPE if applicable).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Employment Details<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time 2-year Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme.<\/li>\n<li>Programme consists of 50% coursework and 50% industrial design project.<\/li>\n<li>40 hours per week.<\/li>\n<li>Graduate School Twente professional development programme included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Salary &amp;
