The lab investigates novel magnetic systems at the mesoscopic scale, leveraging PSI\u2019s large-scale facilities and ETH Z\u00fcrich\u2019s Department of Materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2179\" data-end=\"2700\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The research focuses on <strong data-start=\"2203\" data-end=\"2226\">ultrafast magnetism<\/strong> and nanomagnetic materials, including the fabrication and characterization of arrays of interacting nanomagnets, often referred to as <strong data-start=\"2361\" data-end=\"2384\">artificial spin ice<\/strong>. These systems are probed with <strong data-start=\"2416\" data-end=\"2455\">ultrashort femtosecond laser pulses<\/strong> (~10\u207b\u00b9\u00b3 s) to uncover fast magnetic responses and fundamental mechanisms in magnetization dynamics. This research has direct relevance for <strong data-start=\"2595\" data-end=\"2697\">energy-efficient magnetic devices, high-density data storage, and advanced spintronic
