The School of Materials Science and Engineering at UNSW Sydney invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) position focused on research in energy conversion and storage materials. The project aims to develop high-performance nanoionic materials for advanced energy technologies.

The successful candidate will work within the research group led by ARC Industry Fellow Professor Dewei Chu and contribute to cutting-edge research in nanoionics and energy materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in nanoionic materials for energy conversion and storage.
  • Develop high-quality scholarly outputs including publications and conference presentations.
  • Participate in experimental research including device fabrication and materials characterization.
  • Contribute to research project development and research team activities.
  • Support supervision of research students.
  • Assist in maintaining and overseeing the Nanoionics Laboratory.

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience in fabrication of energy conversion and storage devices.
  • Hands-on experience with solution chemistry laboratory techniques.
  • Expertise in materials characterization techniques such as TEM, SEM, XRD, and EDS.
  • Strong research record with peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.

Position Details

  • Salary: $113,000 – $123,000 per year + 17% superannuation.
  • Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months.
  • Workload: Full-time (35 hours per week).
  • Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
