Job Description
Organization: University of Warwick
Faculty/Department/Division: WMG – International Institute for Nanocomposites Manufacturing (IINM), Advanced Elastomer Research Group
Location: Coventry, United Kingdom
Position: PhD Studentship – From Nanointerfaces to Dynamic Performance: Next Generation Elastomer Technologies
Project Overview
- This PhD project focuses on developing next-generation elastomer technologies for sustainable mobility and future tyre applications.
- Sponsored by a global tyre industry partner, the research addresses tyre-wear particle emissions, emerging Euro 7 requirements, lower embodied carbon, extended service life, self-healing, adaptiveness, and reprocessability.
- The project will investigate nanoparticle surface chemistry, polymer–filler interfaces, and advanced characterisation to establish fundamental microstructure–property relationships.
- Carbon-based and hybrid nanomaterials will be explored to improve reinforcement and multifunctionality while reducing energy loss and improving long-term performance.
- The project integrates polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, materials characterisation, and dynamic performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities
