The Electron Beam Precision Manufacturing (EBEAM) Centre, part of the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, is seeking a Distinguished Research Professor to strengthen its global leadership in the post-synthesis characterization of nanomaterials. This role will be based in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and is fully funded through the EU’s Horizon Europe programme.

The successful candidate will drive research into vibrational spectroscopy, including Raman, FTIR, and SERS, to analyze advanced nanostructures and functional materials created using cutting-edge electron beam techniques. With growing interest in high-resolution diagnostics, this position plays a pivotal role in advancing nanomanufacturing through real-time surface analysis and spectroscopic feedback.

Ideal applicants hold the academic title of Professor (or equivalent) and demonstrate an international reputation in materials diagnostics, spectroscopy, or nanotechnology. A deep understanding of SEM, thin films, and surface chemistry is highly valued. Strong leadership in mentoring and collaborative project development is essential.

This is more than a research job—it’s a strategic opportunity to shape the direction of nanoscience across Europe. You’ll work in an international environment with access to high-end UHV and spectroscopy labs, benefit from six weeks of holiday, flexible schedules, and wellness support including MultiSport cards and childcare facilities.

The EBEAM Centre encourages diversity and actively supports applications from women and underrepresented groups. Fluency in English is required. Start date is expected in August or September 2025, and the contract type is negotiable, with a possibility for extension.
