The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a fully funded 3-year Postdoctoral Researcher position at the forefront of quantum device development. This is a rare opportunity to join a cutting-edge research initiative exploring hybrid heterostructures formed by integrating 2D materials and freestanding complex oxides—an emerging platform for novel quantum phases and device functionalities.
Recent advances in freestanding oxide membranes have opened unprecedented opportunities for integrating oxides with 2D materials into scalable device architectures. Your work will focus on optimising van der Waals hetero-assembly, developing novel in-operando characterisation platforms, and advancing device fabrication for TEM and nano-ARPES studies.
You will be embedded in an international, interdisciplinary collaboration involving ERC Synergy Project METRIQS and the Villum Young Investigator programme DynamiQ. Working alongside experts in condensed matter physics, nanotechnology, and device engineering, you will explore phenomena such as flat band physics, new topological phases, and hysteresis-driven memory effects.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
-
Device fabrication using electron- and optical lithography
-
Quantum transport measurements at room and cryogenic temperatures
-
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterisation
-
Collaborative design, fabrication, and analysis of quantum heterostructures
-
Publishing in high-impact scientific journals
What DTU Offers:
DTU is recognised globally for world-class research facilities, including the DTU Nanolab—a leading cleanroom facility for advanced nano- and quantum fabrication. You will have access to an oxygen- and moisture-free fabrication environment, ensuring the highest-quality device manufacturing.
This position offers an exceptional international work environment, competitive salary, and the chance to contribute to groundbreaking nanotechnology research with real-world impact.
