About the Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory

The lab’s primary focus is on understanding how complex electrolyte environments affect the reaction kinetics and product selectivity of the electrochemical CO₂ reduction reaction (CO₂RR) and related electrocatalytic processes. The group is dedicated to generating mechanistic insights using a suite of sophisticated, in-situ characterization tools, and is driven by the goal of developing innovative solutions for the global energy transition.

The Research Focus: Tackling the CO₂ Challenge

Electrochemical CO₂ reduction is a promising pathway for converting carbon dioxide—a major greenhouse gas—into valuable chemicals and fuels. However, the process is highly complex, with many factors influencing efficiency and selectivity. The Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory is tackling these challenges head-on by:

  • Exploring complex electrolytes: Investigating how different electrolyte compositions and structures affect the performance of electrocatalysts.

Your Role as a Postdoctoral Researcher
