About the Summit

Quantum technologies are rapidly transforming science and industry, and so is the need for education systems that can keep pace. The Quantum Education Summit 2025 has been organised to address this imperative: making quantum science and technology more accessible, aligning education with workforce needs, and fostering inclusive STEM ecosystems.
Hosted at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona from 3-5 December, the event combines workshops, talks and networking to empower educators, researchers and organisations in the quantum space.

Workshops Highlights
From the event’s workshop listings:

  • “Learning Quantum Computing simple and fun!” by Araceli Venegas‑Gómez (QURECA) – a 1.5-hour workshop for high-school teachers to use hands-on and game-based tools (e.g., Bloch Sphere, QubitBox) to introduce quantum computing fundamentals.

  • “Celebrating quantum with ICFO – Quantum School for Teachers: a platform …” (by Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) team) – designed for educators of students from Grade 9 to Grade 12, offering audiovisual resources and practical activities for quantum science and technology.

  • “Gender Perspective, Equality, and Inclusion for Quantum Leaders” – a workshop aimed at current and future academic/research team leaders in quantum sciences, focusing on inclusive leadership, diversity, equitable task distribution, and mentorship.

Why It Matters (Nano & Nanoscience Relevance)
Although the Summit emphasises quantum education broadly, there are important intersections with nanotechnology and nanoscience:

  • Quantum technologies often depend on nanoscale materials, device engineering and nanofabrication (e.g., qubits, quantum sensors) — so educating about quantum inevitably touches on nano-science fundamentals.

  • Educators and researchers who specialise in nanotechnology benefit from understanding quantum-education methodologies: how to teach or integrate quantum/nano concepts (superposition, quantum states, nanodevices) into curricula or outreach.

  • The focus on “workforce development” means that professionals in nano/nanoscience device fabrication, nanoelectronics, quantum sensors, and nanophotonics can position themselves at the nexus of quantum + nano workforce demands.

  • Inclusive education workshops (such as those on leadership/diversity) help ensure that nano-science and quantum engineering fields grow with broad, diverse talent — critical for advancing nanotechnology responsibly.

Who Should Attend

  • High-school & undergraduate educators wanting to integrate quantum or nano-science modules into their classes.

  • Graduate students and early-career researchers working in nanotechnology, quantum materials, nanofabrication, and quantum devices who want to understand education & outreach in their domain.

  • Industry professionals in quantum technology, nanotechnology, and semiconductor/nanosensor sectors are looking to engage with education and workforce trends.

  • Policy makers, education programme designers, and diversity & inclusion officers focused on STEM-quantum/nano education initiatives.

Benefits & Environment

  • Practical workshops that equip you with teaching tools, resources and frameworks to bring quantum + nano concepts into classrooms or labs.

  • Networking with a diverse community of educators, researchers and industry delegates engaged in quantum and related fields.

  • Exposure to emerging issues in quantum education: pedagogy, accessibility, workforce alignment — valuable for those working in or transitioning into nanotechnology/nanoscience fields.

  • Location: Barcelona offers a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem, and the venue (CosmoCaixa) adds a unique science-communication dimension to the event.

Registration & Participation

  • Registration is open until November 9, 2025 (or as stated) on the Summit website.

  • There are travel bursaries available for students (check eligibility and deadlines).
