Submission deadline: 15 November 2026
Nanoscience reveals a world that is often invisible to the naked eye. From striking electron microscopy images and fascinating nanomaterials to graphene structures, laboratory discoveries, and scientific visualizations, every image tells a story about the science shaping our future.
NanoHelp invites researchers, PhD scholars, master’s and bachelor’s students, professors, scientists, laboratory professionals, and nanotechnology enthusiasts worldwide to submit their best scientific images for the NanoHelp Calendar 2027.
Our goal is to celebrate the beauty of science, recognize scientific creativity, and showcase the people and laboratories advancing nanoscience and nanotechnology.
1. What Can You Submit?
We welcome high-quality images related to nanoscience, nanotechnology, advanced materials, and associated scientific disciplines.
Eligible image categories include:
- Microscopy: SEM, TEM, AFM, STM, optical microscopy, and other scientific imaging techniques.
- Nanomaterials: Nanoparticles, nanowires, nanofibres, graphene, carbon nanotubes, 2D materials, quantum dots, and nanocomposites.
- Laboratory research: Experimental setups, research activities, instruments, and material synthesis.
- Scientific visualizations: Molecular structures, simulations, atomic arrangements, and scientific illustrations.
- Applications of nanotechnology: Nanomedicine, nanoelectronics, energy materials, sensors, environmental applications, and advanced coatings.
- AI-generated scientific imagery: AI-created visualizations inspired by nanoscience and nanotechnology.
AI-generated images are welcome, provided they are clearly identified as AI-generated and are not misrepresented as genuine experimental or microscopy results.
2. Who Can Participate?
The call is open internationally to:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students
- PhD scholars and postdoctoral researchers
- Research scientists and professors
- Laboratory technicians and facility specialists
- Industry professionals and R&D teams
- Scientific illustrators and nanotechnology enthusiasts
There is no geographical restriction. Individual researchers and research groups are encouraged to participate.
3. Image Submission Requirements
To ensure that submitted images are suitable for publication, please follow these guidelines:
- Submit images in the highest available resolution, preferably as PNG or high-quality JPEG files. Original TIFF files may also be supplied where appropriate.
- Provide a clear, informative title for your image.
- Include a short description of approximately 50–150 words explaining what the image shows and its scientific significance.
- Specify the imaging technique or method used, where applicable.
- Include your full name, current position, laboratory, department, and institutional affiliation.
- Ensure that scientific labels, units, and scale bars are accurate.
- Clearly identify AI-generated images and disclose significant AI-assisted alterations to experimental images.
- Do not submit images that contain confidential research data, identifiable individuals without appropriate consent, or material you are not authorized to share.
Original research images are particularly encouraged. Image enhancement for clarity is acceptable when it does not misrepresent the underlying scientific data.
4. How Will Images Be Selected?
Selection will involve expert scientific evaluation and social media engagement, with the aim of recognizing both scientific quality and audience interest.
A. Expert evaluation
Submissions will be reviewed by relevant experts or members of the NanoHelp selection team. Evaluation may consider:
- Scientific relevance and accuracy
- Image quality, clarity, and visual appeal
- Originality and scientific creativity
- Relevance to nanoscience and nanotechnology
- Quality of the scientific description
- Suitability for publication in a calendar
B. Social media engagement
Where selected images are shared on NanoHelp’s social media channels as part of the evaluation process, audience engagement may also be considered.
Relevant engagement indicators may include likes, reactions, comments, reposts or shares, and other platform-supported interactions.
Important: Social media engagement is one selection factor, not a guarantee of selection. Scientific quality, accuracy, originality, and expert evaluation remain important. Images will not be selected solely based on popularity.
NanoHelp will determine the final selection. The selection process and final decisions will be managed by the NanoHelp team.
5. How to Submit Your Image
Send your submission by email to:
Please use the subject line:
